Obama

Obama has nearly doubled his total in one month With 111 more commutations

President Obama passed another 111 commutations, adding on to the 214 he issued weeks ago. He has used his clemency power more times than the last ten presidents combined, according to the Department of Justice.

President Obama commuted the sentences of 111 more federal inmates Tuesday, capping a month in which he's nearly doubled the number of commutations granted during his presidency.
The breakneck pace of presidential clemency comes as the Obama White House attempts to get through a backlog of 11,477 cases that were pending as of August 11. In addition to the 325 commutations granted this month, Obama also quietly denied 2,227 cases on August 8.

The commutations — a shortening of a criminal sentence using the president's constitutional pardon power — are part of the Obama administration's two-year old clemency initiative.
As Congress has shortened the sentences for drug crimes, it's also failed to make many of those reduced sentences retroactive — a disparity Obama is trying to correct by through unilaterally action.
About a third of Obama's 673 commutations to date have been for people serving life sentences.
"They are individuals who received unduly harsh sentences under outdated laws for committing largely nonviolent drug crimes, for example, the 35 individuals whose life sentences were commuted today," White House Counsel Neil Eggleston said in a blog post Tuesday. "For each of these applicants, the President considers the individual merits of each application to determine that an applicant is ready to make use of his or her second chance."
Obama vigorously defended his use of commutations at a news conference earlier this month, saying a bipartisan consensus is emerging around reforming unduly harsh drug sentences. But with those efforts stalled on Capitol Hill, he said he needed to act.

Gene Wilder Dies

Gene Wilder Dies at 83; Star of  ‘Willy Wonka’ and ‘Young  Frankenstein’

Gene Wilder, who established himself as one of America’s foremost comic actors with his delightfully neurotic performances in three films directed by Mel Brooks; his eccentric star turn in the family classic “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory”; and his winning chemistry with Richard Pryor in the box-office smash “Stir Crazy,” died early Monday morning at his home in Stamford, Conn. He was 83.
A nephew, the filmmaker Jordan Walker-Pearlman, confirmed his death in a statement, saying the cause was complications of Alzheimer’s disease.

Mr. Wilder’s rule for comedy was simple: Don’t try to make it funny; try to make it real. “I’m an actor, not a clown,” he said more than once.
With his haunted blue eyes and an empathy born of his own history of psychic distress, he aspired to touch audiences much as Charlie Chaplin had. The Chaplin film “City Lights,” he said, had “made the biggest impression on me as an actor; it was funny, then sad, then both at the same time.”
Mr. Wilder was an accomplished stage actor as well as a screenwriter, a novelist and the director of four movies in which he starred. (He directed, he once said, “in order to protect what I wrote, which I wrote in order to act.”) But he was best known for playing roles on the big screen that might have been ripped from the pages of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
He made his movie debut in 1967 in Arthur Penn’s celebrated crime drama, “Bonnie and Clyde,” in which he was memorably hysterical as an undertaker kidnapped by the notorious Depression-era bank robbers played by Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty. He was even more hysterical, and even more memorable, a year later in “The Producers,” the first film by Mr. Brooks, who turned it into a Broadway hit.
Mr. Wilder played the security-blanket-clutching accountant Leo Bloom, who discovers how to make more money on a bad Broadway show than on a good one: Find rich backers, stage a production that’s guaranteed to fold fast, then flee the country with the leftover cash. Unhappily for Bloom and his fellow schemer, Max Bialystock, played by Zero Mostel, their outrageously tasteless musical, “Springtime for Hitler,” is a sensation.

Kuwait Launch probe after dead fish wash ashore

Initial Results Show Decrease Of Oxygen Concentration

In Seawater.

Manama: Kuwait has launched an investigation after dead fish were washed ashore on the coast in the third incident in the area in less than two months.
Several social media users posted pictures and videos of the phenomenon and said they wanted answers to explain what was happening, Kuwaiti daily Al Qabas reported on Sunday.
The Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research said its scientists had gathered samples of dead fish along with samples from deep and offshore waters at Joun area, or Kuwait bay, and the
northern area.
The researchers have gathered the data from those two areas to calculate oxygen ratio in the waters and in the marine sediments where they also identified the current environmental status and its future effect on marine life, KISR said in a statement carried by Kuwait News Agency (Kuna).
All collected data was shared with the Environment Public Authority  after conducting a full survey in cooperation with the Public Authority of Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources, the statement added.
"The results showed a decrease of oxygen concentration in the seawater with less than four milligrams in one litre, in coherence with the increase of the water temperature and high humidity, in addition to the increase of salinity which affected the oxygen in water," the statement said.
According to a recent survey and several researches, the oxygen was below 1 mg for each litre and the marine sediments in the southern area had a notable increase in the marine organisms in the area which increased the consumption of oxygen and decreased its condensation in the waters, Kuna said.
The bay was hit by fish deaths in June 2015 and September 2014 and researches concluded that the oxygen concentration was below average with four mg per liter, the statement said.

Made In Assam

'Made in Assam' was an all-out success at Lakme Fashion Week 2016

The show had fashion presentations of three designers from Assam, who showcased their talents in a unique way, each bringing to life the varied style influences of the region.

The silks and fabrics of Assam have long caught the attention of discerning fashionistas, and so it was natural that the 'Made in Assam' show at the Lakme Fashion Week winter/festive 2016 held in Mumbai was an all-out success.
The show befittingly opened the Sustainable Fashion and Indian Textiles Day at the event. The show opened with the traditional Assamese dance form called 'Sattriya' that was performed by three young dancers - Nupur, Nikita and Gunjan Talwar - in an upbeat through the collection.

NATURALLY ANURADHA
This was followed by the fashion presentations of three designers from Assam, who showcased their talents in a unique way, each bringing to life the varied style influences of the region. The show began with a celebration of Assamese saris as seen in the collection by designer Anuradha Pegu under her label 'Naturally Anuradha', which featured silks like Endi, Muga and Nuni as well as spun and pure cotton.
PARIAH BY PRANAMI
The beauty of these fabrics is that they were treated with 100 per cent vegetable dyes like turmeric, lac, iron, harda and manjistha. The line-up included saris in a rich palette like yellow, brown and blue gold draped in traditional style. Celebrating the luxury of silk in an understated way, designer Pranami Kalita debuted on the runway with her label 'Pariah by Pranami' with a collection featuring Muga, Eri and Pat silks blended with fabrics from other regions of India.
The designs combined lightly handwoven fabric in ivory, gold and red with smart traditional styles. Silhouettes included lehenga-choli-dupatta sets, sheaths with capes and even off-shoulder dresses. VJ Gaelyn Mendonca walked the ramp for the label, dressed in a smart electric blue silk jumpsuit with traditional pink boota design, which took 45 days to weave.
AAGOR BY ANTS CRAFT
In contrast, designer Aditi Holani Chandak brought to fore a fuss-free aesthetic with her label 'Aagor by Ants Craft' that is working to empower the Bodo tribe. The presentation took place to the strains of flute player Prabin Nath, and opened with eight beautiful black and red Mekhela chadors. The ensembles were free-flowing and minimal, including long skirts, trousers, scarves and more.
Actress Sarah Jane Dias walked as the showstopper, dressed in a deep brown collared shirt with a shredded maxi skirt with her hair left natural and tied in a half up half down style.

India bowlers came up with an improved performance from the first T20I and bowled out West Indies for 143 runs in the second T20 international in Florida. After winning the toss and electing to bowl, India made sure that West Indies do not get off to a good start as they did on Saturday and Mohammed Shami dismissed first match centurion Evin Lewis in the second over of the day. The Indian spinners then took over and Amit Mishra broke the West Indies backbone by dismissing Johnson Charles. He later came back to pick two more wickets. R Ashwin was also among wickets and Jasprit Bumrah bowled perfect yorkers to choke the West Indies at death. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was impressive with the new ball with Shami. In the end, West Indies could manage only 143 runs from their 20 overs.

Still rain and strong wind. It has turned very dark there. India need to play those three overs to force  a result in this match
The covers are still on in Florida. In the end, the weather may play spoilsport. The initial satellite problem proving costly here

India are 15/0 after two overs and the hurricane warning is coming true. Rain arrives in Florida and the players are making their way back to the pavillion

iPhone 7

iPhone 7September 16, 2016

So if we look at the pattern that Apple is following, the first four generation iPhone was released in June month of each year with just one add release of iPhone 4S that was taken place in October 2012. The reason behind for the delay was that iPhone 4 was a huge success and the company didn’t wanted to bring new iPhone in the market.
After that tech giant follow ed different cycle wherein all the  new iPhone were being released in the month of September. every year.  So assuming Apple going to follow same pattern for iPhone 7 as well, I can project the iPhone 7 release date will fall sometime during September 2016 however it again depend on the company’s strategies when they want to launch new iPhone in the market.

iPhone 7 specifications

As far as specification is concern, there is not much news about it however since very new iPhone (except S’s and C’s versions) are launched with latest iOS. So iPhone 7 will going to feature new OS i.e. iOS 10 which possibly be announced latest by September 2016.
If we talk about the screen size, the device is going to feature a little bigger screen than its predecessors i.e. iPhone 6 and 6 Plus which measure screen size of 4.7 and 5.5 respectively. Therefore the new iPhone will probably feature 5.8 screen size with OLED display. As far as camera is concern, iPhone 7 will sport improved 13 megapixel primary iSight camera with 8 megapixel secondary one.

iPhone 7 features

Sapphire Glass – According to the last rumors, the new iPhone 7 may feature Sapphire glass instead of Corning’s Gorilla glass that is being used in current iPhone. Sapphire glass is pretty much tough glass which is not easily breakable and the company is already using it in iWatch. It would be fair decision if Apple decides to use the same glass in new iPhone as well. As perMacworld, Apple is backing Arizona based plant run by G T Advanced Technologies that can be used to manufacture iPhone display.
Button-less design – The company may ditch its traditional design and come up with all new button-less design for its new iPhone 7. The home button which is being used in current iPhone can be eliminated completely to provide bigger space on the screen.
Wireless Charging – The rivals like Samsung is already offering wireless charging facility to the customer which is pretty much convenient. Samsung Galaxy S6 edge can be charged wirelessly and the customers have appreciated this facility. Apple can’t afford to lag behind its rivals and it makes sense for the company to allow iPhone 7 charge wirelessly.
Improved iSight Camera – To enhance the picture quality, Apple might use iSight camera which will help you take bright and clear picture through its anticipated 13 megapixel primary camera. The iPhone 7 will be able to take pretty much better picture through its 8 megapixel secondary camera as well.
Water and dust proof – To give maximum protection to such premium device, the California based techie planing to make iPhone 7 Water as well as dust proof. According to the rumors, the phone will be waterproofed to iP67 standard which is meant for making devices water and dust proof. As per IP67 the device wouldn’t get damaged if it submerged under 1 meter water for 30 mins.
OLED display – The latest rumors suggest that the iPhone 7 may feature OLED display instead of LCD which is currently being used. OLED screen generates its own light to illuminate however LCD screen requires back light to glow.

iPhone 7 price

With all these advanced features, I can anticipate the price of iPhone 7 may fall between the price range of 800-900 USD depending upon different locations and GB memory. The Phone could be available in contract with mobile carriers but at this point of time it is pretty hard to predict which carrier will have the privilege. With contract, the consumer will have to spend a couple of hundred dollar initially and rest can be paid in due course as contract lasts. Below are the tentative price of iPhone 7 in different countries.
CountryTentative price of iPhone 7 (16 GB/32 GB)
United States$800-$900
United Kingdom£500- £550
AustraliaA$ 1100-A$1200
CanadaC$ 1050- C$1200

iPhone 7

Woz doesn't want Apple to remove headphone jack for iPhone

Technically Incorrect: Speaking in Australia, the
Apple co-founder says he's not fond of
Bluetooth at all.

So many are worried about the jack hitting the road.
It's becoming a very serious issue.
If iPhone removes the headphone from the new iPhone
some say it will be called iPhone 7 --

He's not a fan of Blue

then what will the world do?

Now Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak has lent a mouth, as well as
an ear, to the debate.

As the Australian Financial Review reports, Woz isn't positively moved
by the idea of no perfect hole in which to plug in his headphones.
"If it's missing the 3.5mm earphone jack, that's going to tick off a lot of
people," Woz told the Review.
One of those people seems to be Woz himself. He's not a fan of
Bluetooth and his headphones have custom-made ear implants.
He can even sleep on them. Sadly, they only have the one kind of jack.

"I have cars where you can plug in the music, or go through Bluetooth,
and Bluetooth just sounds so flat for the same music," he said.
When convenience and excellence clash, the latter is rarely the winner.
He admitted that if Apple insisted customers now have to buy an adapter
to connect their headphones to whatever hole is left on the new iPhone,
he'd do that.
That sounds like a nuisance to me. Have you seen the dongles for the last
MacBook?
Woz seemed perturbed, but said that Apple is "good at moving toward the
future."
Yes, but it doesn't necessarily move quickly. It often waits for others to mess
things up a little (or not), before deciding whether the future is a good idea.
Apple didn't immediately
